Orion Rising - A new wave European design aesthetic
The Orion Chandelier from the new Thinness Collection by London based design studio 06D Atelier leaves us breathless.
Indeed the story of the Thinness Collection begins with the studio founders, Italian born directors Francesca Adami and Mauro Fragiotta, a young and dynamic design team that spends their time drawing upon sound technical design principals that blend with endless imagination, along with the inherited benefit of cultural resonance, resulting in the realization of true furniture pieces that transport us into the future.

On exposition during the iSaloni Design Fair in Milan this month, the limited series Orion Chandelier Gold Edition is the flagship design piece, and sole lighting fixture in the collection. Created entirely with 2mm thin sheets of gold galvanized stainless steel, Orion is a wonder beauty of thinness emitting light. She floats light a spacecraft, hovering softly over the living scene; she captures the space beyond and brings it indoors.

Orion is a sculptural lamp, featuring a design standing out in space with a multifaceted geometry, diffusing light through an array of LED strips, the fixture releases a magical display of light into the ambient, playing with the reflections of its gilded metal. Its 2 mm thick steel plates are laser cut, bent and shaped, then welded and milled before their final hand finishing to obtain a soft, reflective but not mirror-like satin finish.
The Orion Gold Edition is available in a limited edition of 33 signed and silk screened pieces.
Other pieces from the Thinness Collection Gold Edition continue the unique and stunning nature of Orion; they include the Gold Edition Centaurus chair which is currently on display at Galerie SORS in Paris, and the Perseus and Pegasus low and side tables. All three designs are produced in both limited edition gold, and soft-touch powder coated finish in Obsura Black. The powder-coated finish versions of the collection can be produced in unlimited numbers with the option of custom color choice selection.
