Rémi Capdepuy, a French artist based in Bordeaux and a graduate of the National School of Architecture of Montpellier, 2013.
INTRODUCING RéMI CAPDEPUY
THE ARTISAN COLLECTIONS
Marked by the social divide between dominating intellectual positions valued in our society, and positions related to manual work often denigrated, Rémi decided to make the enhancement of manually manufactured work a primary concern. His design approach is that of feelings, of poetry, proposing a sensitive dimension between the object and the user.
Rémi's multidisciplinary process is at the crossroads between sculpture, painting, and architecture and draws upon a variety of artisanal techniques and skills to accomplish the highest level of craftsmanship. Carving, sanding, and chiseling meticulously, the artist is guided by the material rather than a dictator of its final form.
His current offering consists of handmade furniture and sculptures. The A Noste collection is an exploration of the Landes de Gascogne national park situated in the beautiful Bordeaux region of France, and speaks to the manner in which differing elements, at first glance seemingly contradict each other, but as closer inspection reveal a dialogue.
A NOSTE LOW TABLE, 2020
