Bryan Sansivero | an Abandoned Mansion In NYC
July 7, 2022
This abandoned mansion in New York City is a great example of urban decay. It's a huge 1930’s mansion that's been abandoned for several decades, leaving its once glorious Victorian inspired interior design in disrepair. A stark contrast to a formerly opulent and rich jewel-colored home.
What would it be like to learn about an abandoned mansion in NYC and get inside and discover the wild remains of a past owner's life? This is a normal day in the life of Bryan Sansivero, a New York-based photographer who specializes in capturing scenes of urban decay, focusing mostly on abandoned buildings.
The house consists of an impressive 57 rooms including a bowling alley and indoor tennis court and even though the house was built in the 1930's, a Victorian style interior design is evident. The walls are covered in bold patterns, the wallpaper is dark and ornate, and there are rich jewel tones throughout.
Many of Bryan's photos show the interiors of these homes—the places where families once lived, loved and laughed together. In other images, he focuses on their exteriors—the crumbling walls, broken windows and peeling paint that give them a sense of age and history. Discover more of Sansivero’s work on is Instagram.
